Stunning vintage Willy Rizzo coffee table in burl walnut veneer. A brass dry bar in the middle and brass detailed corners. Designed by Willy Rizzo and manufactured by Mario Sabot, Italy 1972. The table originally was retailed by the Italian company Mario Sabot from 1972. The `Alveo` range combined Modernist designs with richly stained wood alongside brass for a warm and glamorous look. Added to this luxury there are the solid brass faceted corners, Rizzo`s trademark which turns his design into a jewel. The `Alveo` design (translated as `riverbed`) has been published in several publications: the July/August 1972 issue of the design periodical Casa Vogue, Maison & Jardin, September issue 1973, page 131; and `Le retour de Willy Rizzo`, AD, number 86, September issue 2009, page 54. This Rizzo design was also exhibited at the 1973 Salone del Mobile in Milan. This design is iconic of Rizzo`s glamourous designs of the period, combining Modernism with luxury materials like veneer & shiny
