Zeer lieflijk, te dateren rond 1920. Hoogte 17 cm. ----------------- This sculpture represents the Immaculate Mother of God Immaculata. This iconographic type developed in the 17th century, particularly in Spain, showing a young Mary in a dress and cloak, and a snake at her feet with generous robes covering her entire body cascade over her body. The broken hand: We believe a story told by old people about grieving in the 19th century .When somebody passed away in a family it is said that one hand of the statue expose in the household had to be broken and of course when somebody else passed away in the same family the other hand was broken . We believe this story as when looking for vintage and antiques catholic figurines representing the Virgin Marie, we always come across a lot of them with broken hands . ----------------- Beeldje van Reliving.
