Vintage and iconic Kaare Klint (1888 – 1954) “Kirkestol” Church Chair in solid Beech. Kaare Klint, recognized as the father of modern Danish furniture design, helped establish the Department of Furniture Design at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1924. As professor, Klint taught many of Denmark’s future famous designers such as Børge Mogensen, Hans J. Wegner, Arne Jacobsen, Poul Kjærholm and Ole Wanscher. The “Kirkestol” Church Chair, originally designed for the Bethlehem Church, which coincidentally was the first Danish church to use chairs instead of benches.The Church Chair is a beautiful example of Danish craftsmanship at its finest, and a true classic with its timeless design. Produced by Fritz Hansen. These particular chairs have been used in the wedding chapel of the dutch town Aalsmeer, built in 1962. Aalsmeer, known as the capitol of the dutch flower production.
