Very hard to find ‘Kaidan’ cabinet in very good condition. Designed by Kazuhide Takahama in 1962. Manufactured by Gavina SPA, Bologna. The kaidan (Which means stairs) is a transformable cabinet that consists of two stepped elements that can be used in several ways. The two elements can be used separately, displaying the characteristic stepped shape. They can also be combined to form a graphic sideboard with geometric lines. By placing one of the two elements a step higher, you create a square shaped cabinet with an open compartment in the middle. The cabinet is made from veneered plywood, the veneer is stained in a grey colour and has a beautiful visible grain. One element consists of six drawers, the other element consists of one drawer, two sliding doors and one normal door. This Kaidan cabinet Is very rare and was only manufactured for a short period of time. measurements of the different compositions: Sideboard: 175 x 100 x 52 cm. WxHxD Cabinet: 131 x 141 x 52 cm.
